On Sunday, January 4th 2015, our
founder, Amanda Munz, took The Fashion
Foundation and launched it into the airwaves in an interview with Deb
Gordon on Fresh 102.7’s CBS Radio morning station. With great style and grace, our founder delivered a
tone of enthusiasm and passion, enough to convince listeners that the mission of The Foundation is of great value and
merit.
Deb
Gordon: “Approximately how many students has the organization helped so far?”
Amanda:
“So far we have helped four hundred and fifty students… two of our first schools were in Harlem
NY, one is a middle school, one is an elementary school, [and] we’ve provided
them with thousands of dollars’ worth of supplies.”
The interview is jammed
packed with excellent information and touching anecdotes pertaining to the
inspiration that led Amanda to start The
Foundation, while she was interning as an undergraduate of New York’s
prestigious Fashion Institute of
Technology:
“There was lots of waste going on in the
industry” Amanda claims, as she witnessed valuable fashion items like women’s
tops, designer handbags, and shoes being thrown to the back of people’s
closets.
“I had this ‘A-HA!’
moment, I have to do something with this.”
This led Amanda to seek a graduate degree in “public
administration,” which would provide her with the proper tools to start The Foundation. 450 students later, 3 schools
(with the 4th and 5th schools on their way), and over
$5,000 worth of school supplies donated, The
Fashion Foundation continues to make a dent in the worlds of fashion and
philanthropy.
Amanda:
“My passion lies in helping people”
And what a wonderful help The Fashion Foundation has been and will continue to be for years
to come.
